Today we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost 20 years ago during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, including over 60 victims who had ties to Maryland. Take time to visit a memorial located outside the Baltimore World Trade Center honoring these Marylanders. The 9/11 Memorial of Maryland was constructed in 2011 using three 22-foot-long steel beams salvaged from the wreckage of the New York World Trade Center as well as limestone from the Pentagon. Its marble platform is inscribed with the names and birthdays of those victims from Maryland, as well as a timeline of the events that unfolded on September 11, 2001.
