A statue honoring fashion designer and Maryland native Claire McCardell is being installed this month in her hometown of Frederick. A photograph from the Maryland Center for History and Culture's collection inspired the statue’s design. McCardell is known for revolutionizing women’s fashion and her work has been displayed in institutions across the country. The Fashion Archives at MCHC proudly holds one of the largest collections of Claire McCardell designs. Click on "Explore Digital Collections" in our bio to see some of the collection.
