Did you know that an item from our collection is on loan to the Baltimore Museum of Art (baltimoremuseumofart) for the new exhibition, “Women Behaving Badly: 400 Years of Power & Protest?” The exhibition celebrates the lives of women throughout history who have broken rules, stereotypes, and societal standards, from the Renaissance era to the progressive social movements of the 19th and early 20th centuries. You can see our copy of “Forest Leaves,” a book of poetry written by the notable 19th-century suffragist, abolitionist, teacher, and Baltimore native Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, on display at the BMA through December 19, 2021. You can also read more pages of the book online through our Digital Collections portal: mdhistory.org/digital-resource/4252. #BaltimoreHistory #MarylandHistory #MDHistory #WomensHistory #FrancesEllenWatkinsHarper #ForestLeaves #BaltimoreMuseums #MarylandMuseums #VisitBaltimore #VisitMaryland
