#DidYouKnow the lot now occupied by Shake & Bake Family Fun Center on Baltimore's Pennsylvania Avenue once held the Regent Theatre? Opened in 1916, the theater was the largest on Pennsylvania Avenue and offered live shows and screened films to African American audiences. The theater also refused to show racially controversial films such as Disney’s "Song of the South." Unfortunately, the Regent’s popularity declined when Baltimore began to be desegregated and the building was eventually demolished in 1980.
