We are excited to support the American Battlefield Trust (americanbattlefieldtrust) with its Virtual Teacher Institute (July 12 - 16) this summer. The week-long institute is free for active educators and continuing education credits are offered for participation. On July 15 at 1:30 p.m., MCHC's Alex Lothstein will present, “After Pratt Street: Maryland My Maryland, Free Blacks, and United States Colored Troops.” The session will explore the reactions to the Pratt Street Riot in 1861 by native Baltimoreans in the city and around the United States. Learn more at battlefields.org/events/virtual-teacher-institute-2021. Local educators and the general public can also visit our museum to learn more about these topics in the "Divided Voices: Maryland in the Civil War" exhibition.
