As we continue with celebrations this week for the 100th anniversary of the Broadway hit “Shuffle Along,” we're sending over a big hello from the H. Furlong Baldwin Library! Whether you’ve recently been introduced to this historic Broadway show or you're already a “Shuffle Along” aficionado, we invite you to explore the history behind one of the first all-Black Broadway hits and learn more about Eubie Blake (1887-1983), one of the driving forces behind the show’s music and lyrics. In 1984, Blake's estate gifted to the H. Furlong Baldwin Library Eubie’s collection of photographs, ephemera, correspondence, sheet music and more documenting the history of “Shuffle Along” and providing insight into the pianist, composer, and lyricist’s life and work, including his relationship with collaborator Noble Sissle (1889-1975).
