The Preakness is Saturday, May 15th! Also known as "The People's Race," the Preakness Stakes is a thoroughbred horse race held annually at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. In 1868, Maryland Governor Oden Bowie made a bet with friends that in two years’ time they would race their horses and the winner would treat the losers to dinner. Bowie promised that Baltimore would host the race and thus, in 1870, Pimlico was born, making it one of the oldest racetracks in America.
