Save the date for our Summer Teacher Institute, July 26-30, 2021. We invite educators to join the Maryland Center for History and Culture and the University of Maryland History Department for this week-long program, "Slavery, Freedom, and Memory in Maryland." Explore topics including the freedom, citizenship, and memory of African American Marylanders during the antebellum, Civil War, and Reconstruction periods, as well as the Jim Crow-era legal battles that continued into the early 20th century. Continuing education credits from the Maryland State Department of Education are given upon completion. Applications will be available in April.
