Pozuelo's Dream Debut.
1 Assist ✅.
Cheeky Panenka ✅.
Outrageous chip ✅.
The 27-year-old Spaniard Alejandro Pozuelo announced himself to the league in emphatic fashion during Toronto FC's win over NYCFC on Friday night. The newcomer arrived to Toronto from KRC Genk merely a week ago, but on Friday he showed exactly why coach Greg Vanney picked him to start after only a few training sessions with the squad. At KRC Genk, Pozuelo recorded 25 goals and 60 assists in 175 appearances, and after Friday's debut it seems Toronto signed a true gem to command their attack. After the match, Toronto midfielder Jonathan Osorio likened him to Andres Iniesta because of his quickness and side-to-side movements. Striker Jozy Altidore bagged his second goal of the season thanks to Pozuelo and at the end of the match declared, "this is going to be fun."
