The $250M Allianz Field is the first stadium in Minnesota dedicated specifically to professional soccer. After years of hopping from the National Sports Center in Blaine, to the now demolished Humphrey Metrodome, to TFC Bank Stadium, Minnesota United finally have a home of their own. The privately funded project has been in the works for at least two years, and on Saturday Allianz Field will host its first ever MLS game when Minnesota United face off against NYCFC. The stunning new stadium holds about 19,000 fans and its modern design echoes architectural stadium trends across Europe. It also has room above the current decks for further enlargement and could be expanded up to a capacity of 25,000 if needed.
