❤️Sometimes I feel that my own language, Swedish, is a bit limited. When we say Merry Christmas in Swedish, we say ‘God Jul.’ The word ‘Jul’ in Swedish has its origins in the words ‘invitation’ or ‘celebration.’ So when we say Merry Christmas in Swedish, it roughly means ‘Good celebration.’ It doesn’t really specify WHICH celebration is good!? That’s why I love the English phrase MERRY CHRISTMAS, which in a way means the same thing - it also refers to joy and celebration, but it also clarifies which celebration this is about - the celebration, the joy, the shouts, the jubilation over the Savior Christ finally being born! To all my new friends from different parts of the world - MERRY CHRISTMAS! The best Christmas gift you can receive is a saved soul!
