On Friday morning (just a couple of days ago), one of my caregiving attendants drove me to Best Buy with the goal for me to trade in an old laptop.
After we exited the store to head back to my accessible van, we noticed that a car had parked in the lane, which is dedicated and designated for people to get out of their vehicle - comfortably and confidently - in the accessible, handicapped zone.
It turned out that the car belonged to an elderly man who had an accessible, handicapped parking pass. Some people might give the elderly man grace and a pass, but not me - I was feeling very frustrated, pissed, and irritated at that moment.
Not only is this a massive inconvenience for the individual living with a physical disability (me) and their caregiver (my caregiving attendant) - as in this case, my caregiving attendant had to get in my van, back up the car, and drive it to a new accessible, handicapped parking in order to have enough room to eject the ramp for me to drive my power wheel...
