Today’s #ThursdayThoughts comes from John Davison Rockefeller, who is widely considered the wealthiest American of all time and the richest person in modern history. Born into modest circumstances in upstate New York, he entered the emerging oil business in 1863 by investing in a Cleveland, Ohio refinery. In 1870, he established Standard Oil, which by the early 1880's controlled some 90 percent of U.S. refineries and pipelines. Later in life, he devoted himself to charity, founding major philanthropic institutions and the University of Chicago. Mr. Rockefeller advises us not to settle for the good, because you're scared of the journey to greatness. We hear it so often from realtors that are afraid to change brands or open a brokerage for fear of losing the decent split they have, comfort and familiarity, etc. even though they desire their own business and independence.
