In a recent interview with an NFL coach at the Combine, Clayton Thorson argued that Northwestern is a “QB Factory”.
-
‘‘When you look at quarterbacks from the Big Ten that go into the NFL, you think of Michigan State, you think of a couple of guys from Iowa and then it’s Northwestern,’’ said Thorson. ‘‘There’s Mike Kafka, there’s Trevor [Siemian]. But you don’t see anyone from these other schools going to the NFL and succeeding. It goes to show where it really starts, and that’s in the mind.’’
-
Thorson has a chance to become the third Wildcats quarterback, alongside Siemian (Round 7 in 2015) and Kafka (Round 4 in 2010), drafted this decade. That’s more than schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State or Nebraska can claim.
