Northwestern falls to
#4 Notre Dame 31-21. Just short. The game started off looking promising for us, as we held the Irish to 7-7 at the half. They outscored us in quarter three with 14 points and the score became 21-7. However, in the last quarter of play, we came rallying back and the score became 24-21 with less than ten minutes to play but our offense couldn’t get anything going and our defense couldn’t hold up and we ended up losing by ten. I think the game showed us a lot of positives and negatives. First off, it showed that Northwestern football has the ability to compete against top ranked teams. Holding a close game to the number four team in the country is remarkable and shows the world that Northwestern is no joke. Another thing that was great was our run defense (for the most part). We held ND’s main back Dexter Williams to under just 3 yds average and shut the running backs down most of the game. Our special teams also had some nice plays, including the CLUTCH blocked punt...
