He played an outstanding 4 years at Northwestern and was a key role in leading the team to back to back Big Ten championship games and New Year’s Day bowl game runs in the 1995 and 1996 season. He racked up 299 tackles in his career along with being nominated as a 2x All-American (1995, 1996), and earning awards as Big Ten defensive player of the year twice (1995, 1996). After his playing career, he became the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator at NU and was later promoted to head coach of the Wildcats in 2006 after the sudden passing of head coach at the time Randy Walker.
