Juliano Dock had reached a milestone — and no, it was not his April career-making performance at Wells Fargo Arena, where he commanded a crowd of thousands and opened the show for rapper Lil Wayne. This moment was personal, private and could only be captured by chance. On a Tuesday afternoon in early June, @julianodockshmg witnessed his son's first attempts to walk. The hip-hop artist was crouched beside a wall in his mother's dining room, his arms stretched out ready to catch the 8-month-old Jueler. Dock's journey as a Midwest freestyle rapper is a culmination of baby steps — years of hard work, self-promotion and really trying to achieve something that feels impossible or unattainable being from Des Moines, or, for that matter, Iowa.
