Grocery sales hit an all-time high while families are
#stayinghome and spending time cooking together.
#DYK around 50% of all home fires start in the kitchen? Here are a few tips for whipping up that delicious, homemade meal while staying
#safe: • Always keep a kitchen fire extinguisher BEHIND you while cooking (this avoids reaching over the stovetop fire in the event of an emergency).
#TopTip
• Grease and cooking fires happen. Remember to never throw water on a grease fire, as it can make the fire grow. Instead, use a lid, cookie sheet or kitchen fire extinguisher to safely smother the flames.
• Install smoke alarms at least 10’ (3 meters) from hot appliances to reduce false alarms. • Cooking with natural gas can produce CO. Some tips like keeping your range clean, avoid lining oven racks with aluminum foil, and watching for faulty burners can help decrease CO risks. And make sure to have CO alarms installed throughout the home.
Bon appetite!
