"I remember sitting in that purple racing wheelchair thinking, WOW, how do I propel this thing?! You’re really telling me that I have to move this wheelchair really fast all while my hands are tied up in these gloves?! At the time I think it took me about 15 minutes to make it around the track just one time! My helmet was also way too big, so I think I spent half of that session with my helmet over my eyes! Before that day, I had NO idea what wheelchair racing was or even what a racing wheelchair looked like! It was all so foreign to me and I was definitely journeying into uncharted territory.
