I was thinking: βAt the time I was probably nervous to perform. We spent months practicing for these performances, which only happened 1-2 times per year. The moves were incredibly intricate, and I always hoped I would remember them when the curtains came up. Just getting your hair done for these performances took hours. We wore braided hair extensions, fake flowers, and lots of Indian costume jewelry pieces. We also had red marker drawn on our hands and feet, and wore detailed and colorful fanned skirts, the traditional Bharatanatyam outfit.β
