This National Sunglasses Week we are celebrating with a powerful visual from Bow Seat’s winning young artist, Sutra Chakma. In “What Climate Change?”, a man sunbathes on a shrinking patch of sand as waves threaten the last bit of dry ground. This striking image captures the essence of climate change skepticism and its potential dangers. Reflecting on the piece, Sutra shared: “I tried to portray climate change skepticism leading to a foreseeable danger in a sarcastic way. My message here is to accept the truth and provoke action. Beyond individual actions like recycling, together we can collect plastic trash from the oceans, urge world leaders to stop using fossil fuels, raise awareness through our artworks, and do so much more.” As we don our sunglasses this week, let’s also reflect on Sutra’s message.
