Appa Volunteers, or just “Appa,” was one of the nation’s first alternative spring break service-immersion trips. We continue that mission today, some 40 years later, by introducing students to the lived realities of unheard voices and underserved populations across the country via direct encounter and shared service.⁣ ⁣ #BCAppa meetings begin in the fall, with participants gathering biweekly to learn through discussion and reflection about the structural realities that leave communities across the country marginalized. There is no application; the program is open to all undergraduates across all four years.
