Celebrate Women’s History Month with joy and pride as we honor Flossie M. Byrd, the trailblazing PVAMU alumna who became the first Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Her remarkable journey includes teaching in Florida schools and serving as the Dean of the College of Home Economics at PVAMU for 23 years. In 1991, she was appointed Vice President for Academic Affairs, and in 1993, President Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Julius Wesley Becton, Jr. officially named her Provost and Vice President.
