🗣️ “Do not compromise our rights for your political rivalries.” A United Nations-led conference will be held in Doha from June 30 to July 1 with the Taliban to discuss Afghanistan’s future, however, the Taliban’s human rights abuses do not appear to be a priority. In a shameful effort to bring the Taliban to the negotiating table, the UN has agreed to prevent Afghan women from participating in the main meetings and to remove women’s rights issues from the agenda. Outraged over this decision, some Afghan women and activists are calling for a boycott of the Doha conference. 🔴 Women and girls make up half of Afghanistan’s population and suffer under a severe gender apartheid regime that deeply affects the entire society. 🔴 Their inclusion in all discussions about Afghanistan’s future is crucial and must be non-negotiable. #endgenderapartheid
