Intrinsic muscles are muscle with a specific location and usually refer to the hand or foot. . These muscle start and end in the foot. Unlike extrinsic muscles that start in the lower leg and end in the foot. . Many times foot pain is associated with poor intrinsic muscle activation. This leads to increase reliance on ligaments and joint structure to create stability in the foot. . Muscle should ALWAYS be the primary stabilizing force in the body. Joint structure and ligaments are there as secondary measures to provide support when muscle fatigues or gets overloaded due to poor position. .
