Endocanniboids have also been found to play a key role in placebo-induced analgesia, or, linking complex events such as expectations and beliefs when positive verbal suggestions of benefit are given. 🔹️🔹️🔹️ In the present study, 2 groups of healthy patients experienced ischemic induced arm pain via compression during a pain endurance task. One group was told about the aversive nature of pain while the other was told that the ischemia would be beneficial to the muscle. 🔹️🔹️🔹️ No surprise that the group who was informed of the positive connection to pain was able to tolerate the effects of ischemia much longer then the group was informed of the aversive nature of pain.
