After a short hiatus, here is the last test to determine point readiness in young dancers. .
The single sauté test is used to evaluate dynamic trunk control and lower extremity (leg) alignment. .
To perform this test, the dancer starts in coupe derrière with the gesturing leg and standing leg turned out. .
The dancer then jumps into the air and has to demonstrate the following:
1️⃣ a neutral pelvis.
.
2️⃣ an upright and stable trunk.
.
3️⃣ a straight leg in the air.
.
4️⃣ a pointed standing foot in the air.
.
5️⃣ no movement in leg maintaining the coupe.
.
6️⃣ and a controlled landing in plié - rolling toe-ball-heel through the foot. .
Dancers attempt 16 sautes on each leg. Each jump that meets the technical criteria is counted towards the total score. Right and left side are added together for a total score. .
Watch morgannr of thewashingtonballet perform the single sauté test. .
