Another week, another video to help dancers maintain healthy feet. This videos demonstrates something we call Piano Toes. To perform Piano Toes, start with weight on tripod and cover all toes except the big toe. Lift one toe up at a time starting with the big toe and progressing to the pinky toe. Once all toes are lifted, reverse the process and press toes into the ground one by one. This exercise focuses on the small muscles within the foot, called intrinsics, to maintain function as a contributor to toe movement. Many times these muscles become dormant because the larger muscle in your lower leg over power them. When the intrinsic muscles become dormant, this can lead to repetitive stress or overuse injuries of the foot and ankle. Take advantage of our
