Habemus Magistrum Ordinis! CONGRATULATIONS to Fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner III OP, the 87th Successor of St. Dominic and the 88th Master of the Order of Preachers worldwide! He is now the Angelicum's new Grand Chancellor!!! He is 51 years old. A former provincial of the Province of the Philippines, he also served as vice-chancellor of the University of Santo Tomas. Before being elected today, he served as socius for the Asia-Pacific region of the Order of Preachers. Fr. Timoner was born on 26 January 1968 and hails from Daet, Camarines Norte. He made his profession of simple vows on 13 May 1989 and was ordained to the priesthood of Jesus Christ on 14 May 1995. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the Philippine Dominican Center of International Studies in 1991 and a bachelor’s degree in Theology from the University of Santo Tomas in 1994.
