Meet Avalon Avalon was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at only 17 months old. Through her two and a half years of treatment, she endured bone marrow biopsies, spinal taps, chemotherapy, and many surgeries to be declared CANCER FREE! However, she still has permanent effects from her treatment, such as intracranial hypertension and GI tract damage. Avalon has been involved with BuckeyeThon for 15 years now and she is a junior in high school. Avalon is taking college level classes, is involved with 4H, and volunteers at the Columbus Zoo and Cosi. During Avalon’s treatment, she had to have 8 brain surgeries.
