Almalyn Akmad serves as a community volunteer in the Philippines. The young mother belongs to the nomadic Sama Bajau people who frequently roam between the #Philippines, #Malaysia, and #Indonesia by sea. Their itinerant culture has left many without proper identification documents which creates obstacles in accessing basic rights like education or healthcare. Almalyn has already gone through the challenging process of obtaining a birth certificate and can now help other members of her community who are often illiterate.
