Long Live Section 80!
On July 2, 2011, kendricklamar unveiled to the world his long awaited debut studio album: “Section 80.”
As a forward thinking “concept” album,
K.Dot sought to explore lyrical themes of political nature: 1980s crack epidemic, racism and the medication tolerance of Generation Y.
Recorded at Top Dawg Studios in Carson, CA, the critically acclaimed LP consists of myriad contributions from some of
K.Dot’s favorite contemporaries: Ab-Soul, BJ The Chicago Kid, ScHoolboy Q, J.Cole and Sounwave.
With sharply poignant observations coupled with sonic elements of low-fi jazz and alternative rap,
K.Dot definitely set the foundational blueprint for where his career would ultimately be headed.
In the process, he showcased his versatility and gave us some solid generation hits such as “A.D.H.D,” “Rigamortus,” “F**k My Ethnicity,” “Kush & Corinthians” and much more.
