It might be hard to tell, but one of these “foxes” isn’t really a fox! Dr. Lucky Garvin, co-founder of the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center of Roanoke, took his job as foster fox father seriously, feeding a group of kits that arrived at the nonprofit in February. The foxes’ den flooded, and the mother was only able to retrieve two of her eight babies. The other six were rescued and taken to the wildlife center, where they received round-the-clock care and treatment for pneumonia. Three kits survived and are growing reislliently—in fact, they recently opened their eyes. So what’s with the mask? The center noted in a media release that in order for the foxes to return to the wild in the fall, it’s important that they don’t get too used to human interaction. 📸: Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center of Roanoke #virginia #vanews #wildlife
