If you’ve been keeping up with the Copa America, you’ve probably seen this commercial by now and yes it’s me! Huge thank you to everyone who was a part of this 🥹🫶🏼 it didn’t hit me how big of an accomplishment this was until I got a phone call from my mom, crying and telling me how proud she is and how she never imagined seeing her own daughter on tv. My parents being from a small town in Guatemala, Santa Cruz Naranjo, who immigrated to the USA for better opportunities, my dad who was homeless for a few years finding himself here, and my mom who worked in the fields picking grapes. From LA to Virginia, moving into a trailer park to raise their two kids. Sometimes I felt like all odds were against me, struggling with identity issues, being embarrassed of where I was raised, realizing now these things make me who I am.
