From the_active_educator : Save this 3-step structure for conferences 😀 1. Greet and connect- I love starting conferences with a connecting piece like a story about the child at school or sharing what I enjoy about the child! It helps break the ice and beginning with this connection piece really sets the tone for a safe and inviting conference. 2. Share the news- Before I host conferences, I send something called a “love bundle” home with students that includes up to date work samples and assessment copies. As I “share the news”, I link back to what was sent home and ask if grownups were able to read through this info! From here we discuss current social/emotional and academic standings both at home and at school (I always start with social/emotional)❤️ ! 3. Make a plan- This is always my favorite because we can come together as a team to formulate an action plan for the child. “How can we continue to best support this child in both spaces?” I always ask if there is anything needed...
