“I started learning ways hackers con people into getting their private information, and it piqued my interest in wanting to find ways to stay secure online.” Meet Jessica Xie, a UC Santa Cruz Baskin School of Engineering alumna who focused on Technology and Information Management. Jessica began teaching herself how to code and web design at the age of 10 and is now an expert in cyber strategy and is a Business Information Security Officer at MUFG, helping to lead the business’s global cyber strategy and increase the security of their individual cyber programs. When she isn't working on global cyber strategy, she’s helping to lead the City of Pasadena’s social justice initiatives as Chair of Pasadena’s Human Services Commission which includes addressing homelessness with innovative solutions, and developing mentorship programs for women of color.
