#HumansofUCSC 👩🏽‍🎓👩🏽‍🎓 "I came into UC Santa Cruz knowing that I am a first gen student, meaning my mother didn’t have the opportunities that I had because she was a single mother and didn’t get a college education. Being a student of color has had its challenges and its blessings. I was able to make changes by creating the first ABC (Afrikan Black Coalition) identified interns at the Dean of Students. You do not see many ABC students working in major administration buildings due to the social norm. Now graduating, I see the growth in myself and so much love from my community and friends. Next for me is graduating and studying aboard in Africa.
