#HumansofUCSC 💙💛 _____ "In 2013 or 2014 I received a call from Pablo Reguerin asking if I could help out a student. She had been accepted into the UC Sacramento internship program, but was going to have to forfeit her selection because she could not secure housing in Sacramento. Her parents were deported, she has no family with legal residency, and thus could not pass housing applications. She moved into my house and had an amazing quarter in Sacramento! We even got to climb up to the very top of the Capitol. She has since graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a BA and worked as staff on campus supporting Dreamers. With DACA she has been eligible to work and live her life as her peers. Soon she will begin her Ph.D. at Cal in education. This is one example of the 600,000+ lives being played with. This young woman was brought here by her parents at the age of three or four. She started kindergarten in a public school and is as American as any other student raised in this country. It breaks...
