UC Santa Cruz has received the largest gift in campus history today, the Pirkle Jones and Ruth-Marion Baruch Collection. Valued at over $32 million, the collection is a photographic archive of California history and includes iconic scenes from Haight Ashbury (during the Summer of Love, 1967) and the Black Panther movement (1968). In addition to being housed at McHenry Library, parts of the collection will be on loan to the oaklandmuseumca for their upcoming Black Panther show, as well as the deyoungmuseum's upcoming Summer of Love exhibition.
