#SUMMERSPOTLIGHT 💎☀️
Our next summer spotlight is on rising senior Maddie Toonder (AC ‘20).
Maddie returned to south Florida to conduct research on one of the most densely nested sea turtle beaches in the world. She worked as the senior leatherback turtle technician each night on a nocturnal schedule 9pm-4am. She was also invited to be the Keynote speaker at Brevard Zoo’s Annual Youth Environmental Summit where she discussed her experiences as a young woman in STEM. When her job working with sea turtles ended, Earth Echo Intl flew her out to DC so the Youth Leadership Council could advocate on Capitol Hill and meet with representatives about pressing environmental issues.
About her summer full of travel, Maddie said:
“Through it all, I was able to spend time with my sisters wherever I went! I went on adventures with Cam in Juno Beach, got dinner with sister pres Gillian in DC, and will be getting lunch with my big Micayla in Orlando next week!” 🥰🤍🐢
