Don't compare yourself. A while ago I was doing a talk and the moderator kept interupting me to talk about another para-athlete he knew that had done amazing things. Suddenly I was feeling like my achievements meant nothing and that this para-athlete was better. Suddenly I was comparing myself to him. Funny how you can suddenly become very insecure. At that moment I felt like walking off the stage. Obviously the moderator didn't mean anything bad by it, I think he was just trying to connect with me and I had to remind myself not to compare. Comparison is something I've had to work hard on over the years. I would compare myself to faster runners, para-athletes, other female runners and think I wasn't good enough, but I refuse to compare myself to anyone anymore. No ones achievements are better than another. They are your own individual achievements and with that they should be celebrated separately. I'm not doing what I do to compete with another athlete. I'm pushing my own boundarie...
