How does my leg stay on?
I actually get this question a lot, so I thought I'd share some information. Hopefully some of you will find it interesting😉.
I have two different systems. One for walking and one for running. For walking I use a pin socket, the silicone liner has a pin on the end and that locks into the bottom of the prosthetic socket. The socket has a button on the side that I press that will then release the liner when I want to take my leg off. (Swipe left to image)
For running I use a seal-in suction system, because it holds my leg more secure. The seal-in liner includes a flexible rubber ring called the Hypobaric Sealing Membrane (HSM). The HSM creates a suction seal with the socket to suspend my running prosthesis. This socket also has a button that I press that will release the suction and allow me to remove the leg. Hopefully this is interesting😉
