A few of my favorite photos from Umstead 100 miler. Legs are recovered and I'm back training for Moab 240. The goal for this race was to use it as a training run for Moab 240, workout my fueling, because I totally suck at it. Test a few things with my socket and my skin etc.
What I learned and what I need to improve:
1. I still suck at fueling and I need to make some major adjustments. I definitely didn't take in enough calories
2. I need to pay more attention to my stump and my skin condition.
3. I need crew and separate pacers. My husband was my crew, pacer and looked after the kids. It definitely was too much for one person. I needed someone who would make sure I was eating and remind me to take care of my skin.
4. The valve I currently have on my socket does not like water and with all the rain it stopped holding my leg. This meant I had a lot of movement and this caused major skin friction on my stump which pulled my skin off😔.
