For his efforts and bravery in Afghanistan, former Pepper Pike Orange wrestling state champion and current Marines Staff Sargeant Hafeez Hussein received the Bronze Star on Thursday, April 9, 2015. During one of the most historic battles during Operation Enduring Freedom in June 2012, Hussein and his team were surrounded and outnumbered by the enemy in the Helmand province. While under attack, Hussein and the team were able to fight back the enemy and secure a landing area for helicopters to evacuate the wounded.
