Today we look back on our presentation of Danh Vo’s “We The People (2010-2014)” exhibition. This 1:1 replica of the Statue of Liberty, recreated in 250 individual pieces, offered a profound experience at City Hall Park and brooklynbridgepark. Vo’s segmented version, faithful to the original fabrication techniques and copper material, invited us to reflect on liberty from multiple perspectives. At Brooklyn Bridge Park, three colossal sculptures, assembled from 13 pieces of the statue, graced the Pier 3 Uplands with the original Lady Liberty on the horizon.
