50 years of service is a feat not many achieve. Leading Senior Constable Alan Perry recently celebrated the occasion after joining Victoria Police in 1974 at the age of 16. Originally from Casterton, Alan spent 26 years of his career at Horsham Highway Patrol before taking the leap in 2017 to be the sole officer at Harrow Police Station. Being the only police officer in a new town comes with its challenges, but his boss, Senior Sergeant Eddie Malpas, said it was “unbelievable” how well Alan is suited to Harrow as someone with, “... a great, old-fashioned commitment to the people and to making Harrow better, regardless of what uniform he’s wearing at the time.” It’s no secret that Alan’s community-minded spirit extends outside of his policing duties.
