One of the biggest design challenges I faced when designing my new home was that our windows are very shallow, making traditional drapery difficult, if not impossible, to execute. Thankfully, I worked with TheShadeStore on this project. They offered creative solutions to make the most of our challenging windows, such as opting for shades in most places instead of drapery. They made me realize that shades can add just as much beauty and glamour when executed properly. I wanted Margot’s room to have an air of whimsy and enchantment. I chose London shades for their playful, feminine silhouette. However, with her nap schedule, I knew we needed another layer that could open and close easily and quickly at nap time. We selected motorized blackout shades hidden behind the London shades. Bedtime routines are seamless, and we didn’t have to sacrifice the most integral part of the window treatment design.
