He grew up in North Valley Stream and graduated from a three-year program at Adelphi University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He attended New York University College of Dentistry and graduated top of his class in 1991. He furthered his education in a post-doctorate general practice residency program at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where he served as Chief Dental Resident until 1993. He went on to open Island Dental Associates at 600 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead and his practice grew from two chairs to nine chairs with a full-service, in-house dental laboratory.
