Cao Jun: Hymns to Nature, was shown at the McMullen Museum in 2018. The exhibition was Cao Jun's first exhibition in the United States. Having grown up in the Jiangsu Province in southern China, and later moving to New Zealand, his works explore the experience of nature through ink- and color-splashing to render mountain landscapes, water, and flowers with fused elements of classical painting with modern abstract form.
