We closed out the first day of the World Equipped Powerlifting Championships with the 52kg class.  Zuzanna Kula of Poland led from the start, opening with a massive 205kg, extending her own junior squat world record with her second and pushing it up all the way to 215kg on her third.  Just behind, Karen Hesthammer of Norway looked on form with a great looking 200kg squat for the silver.  Ukraine’s Anastasiya Derevyanko couldn’t quite manage her third at 200kg but her second at 192.5kg was enough for the bronze. Kula continued to shine on bench, getting all three in and taking the gold medal.  Estonia’s Gerlyn Maepea impressed with 127.5kg for the silver and Derevyanko benched 117.5kg for the bronze and moved ahead of Hesthammer for the first time. Emma Goodwin came into her own on deadlift and went toe to toe with Derevyanko, both opening on 175kg.  Goodwin pushed ahead with 185kg for her second and then went all the way up to 195kf on her third to match the world record.  Unfortuna...
